Thank you for your
interest in volunteering at KXCI. We just conducted a Volunteer
Orientation on Wednesday May 2, 2012. So currently, we are
integrating our new volunteers.
We hold new volunteer orientations periodically throughout the year at the station. Our next comprehensive Volunteer Orientation will be in Fall 2012. This meeting is geared toward people who are interested in
volunteering at KXCI. We will conduct a tour of the station, and we will discuss who we are, what we do, how we do it, and how you become part of it. We'll discuss upcoming volunteer and training opportunities (on and off the
air).
This meeting is required for all new volunteers (on and off the
air). Attendance at this meeting is a prerequisite for DJ/Programmer training. Each person is given a packet of information with volunteer opportunities and
contact information to catalyze new volunteer involvement.
Please email amanda at kxci.org to register for this volunteer orientation.
The summer classes are
currently full, but I can put you on a waiting list for our next session in Fall 2012.
KXCI New DJ/ Programmer Training Wednesdays: May 16, May 23, June 6th and June 13th, 2012 6:00pm to 8:00pm 220 S. 4th Ave, 85701
Have you ever wondered how to get on the air at KXCI? Being a DJ/Programmer at KXCI is more than just having a big music collection. It means being a part of a team that helps KXCI implement its mission to connect the communities of Tucson and Southern Arizona to each other and to the world with informative, engaging and creative community-based radio programming.
In this 4 week, 8 hour course, we will learn some of the behind the scenes broadcast basics. We will go over KXCI policies and FCC rules, and cover some broadcasting dos and don'ts. Completion of this course is a beginning point for possible on air opportunities. Graduates of this 8 hour theory course will need to shadow on air programmers to learn more about the hands on broadcasting. Successful graduates will have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills on the air during a one hour bootcamp. Completion of this course does not guarantee an on air opportunity.
Please email amanda at kxci.org to register for DJ/Programmer Training. There is no fee for this course. Students must attend all four classes.
