WELCOME DEADHEADS
Here we are in Carson, Ca. for the first GRATEFUL DEAD outdoor concert of 1990. Today's concert is completely SOLD OUT and there will be no tickets sold at the door. The concert gates will open at 12 NOON and the show will begin at 2PM. We ask that you give yourself a little extra time to enter the facility today because we will be doing a thorough COUNTERFEIT TICKET CHECK at the gates and this is bound to slow things up. We ask that everyone cooperate with the ticket checking crew by having your ticket out and ready to be checked when you enter the line. We also ask that everyone hold their own ticket.
We were given approval by the University officials to stage this event on the school campus with the following conditions:
1  THERE IS NO VENDING OR CAMPING ALLOWED AT THIS FACILITY!
2  AT THE END OF THE SHOW THIS AFTERNOON WE ASK THAT EVERYONE GET IN YOUR CARS AND LEAVE THE AREA. It is important that the CITY of CARSON not be overwhelmed by deadheads all night after the show. There is no sleeping in cars allowed on the streets of CARSON. If you have no place to stay we ask that you get in you car and drive away from this community before stopping for the night.
3  FOR THOSE OF YOU WITHOUT TICKETS WE ASK THAT WHEN THE CONCERT BEGINS AND YOU STILL DON'T HAVE THAT ELUSIVE MIRACLE TICKET, PLEASE GO HOME. Today's concert will be broadcast live on KPFK, 90.7 on your FM dial and can be received throughout the LA area. Non-ticket holders will not be allowed to remain in the parking lot, or anywhere else on the campus once the music begins.
4  REGARDING DRUGS AND ALCOHOL - THIS HAS BECOME A MAJOR PROBLEM AND WE ALL KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES. THE FLAGRANT SALE AND USE OF ALCOHOL AND DRUGS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
5  YOUR COOPERATION AT THE SHOW'S END WITH THE CLEAN-UP OF YOUR RESPECTIVE AREAS WILL BE APPRECIATED.
Recently Deadheads have been labeled by various official agencies as users and sellers. It is this stigma that is making it very difficult for the DEAD to find facilities and communities willing to allow their concerts. The only way to change this is for all of us to use our collective common sense and STOP THE FLAGRANT SELLING & USE OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL at these shows. If you see someone selling or using, voice your disapproval. BE A TEACHER.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP! Remember, it's only with the cooperation of all of us that the DEAD - as well as all of us - will be welcomed here in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, or anywhere else.
